I AM BACK! | iamJoyAnn

It's been such a long time since my last post that I don't even know how to start this :) First off, I hope you are all well and having a very good day :) . . .

Being away from my blog has not meant that I have not thought about it and that I have not been planning things for my blog. In fact having this amount of time away has meant that I have had a lot of time to think about my blog, what I have done with it and what I plan to do with it. I have had a lot of time to think and I have realised that my interests are very broad. I am still very much interested in beauty (which is what the majority of my posts were about) and still will post about a range of beauty topics, however, I will be venturing into  whole new world of other things that are also of interest to me.

The one thing that I do not want to do (which I feel that I was doing before) is to write about what I 'THINK' people wanted to read about. That is most definitely not what I want to carry on doing and I want to write about things that can inspire or encourage someone.

There is a lot you can expect from me should you chose to follow along, but I must stress and always have done to myself and people I know in real life that my blog is for me and that this is my space on the internet where I can do what I please to some extent.

There are two main changes to my blog!

1. The first is that that there definitely will be more fitness/wellness posts. I did include this in the "lifestyle" aspect of my blog here and there but this is something that will be more prominent, more visible and more regular in my blog posts. This platform will be my "diary" and help me stick to it. Write it down, make it happen!

2. The second main change is that there will totally be a couple aspects of my life that I want to include in my blog which is the aspect of my beliefs and religion and most importantly, my health. Religion and belief can be a very controversial topic with may people having a number of different views. There are a number of reasons why I am including this in my blog and it will be very detailed to explain, however, the main is that I want to share my growth with others, the things I learn day by day when I pick up my bible to study and life experiences and how I've overcome certain obstacles. This is something that has been on my mind for a very long time (even before I started this blog) and I believe now is the time for me to include this. This has been something I've been toying with for a while but I've been thinking this is my space on the internet where I should be who I am and share what I want and hopefully it will encourage people.

My health in another very important aspect for me. For those who don't know, I have sickle cell anaemia (an inherited blood disorder). I want to use my blog to raise awareness of this illness and share my stories and experiences of having this disorder, as in my honest opinion it's not discussed very often.

Right about now, I'm not even sure how to end this post as it is very different to what I've been doing (and I've been away for so long)...eeek., but to put it lightly, things will be going in a new direction for me, physically, emotionally and mentally.

Benedicts Bakery: Gingerbread Jar

Hi Beauties :) I hope you are all well and having a very good day :) . . . I know it has been a good two months since my last post but for those of you who have followed me for a while or follow me on twitter know that I do have health issues that throw me back quite far when it chooses to do so. Not going to get too much into that simply because the post I am doing today definitely relates a lot to Christmas which is also another reason why I have sort of dragged it out for this long.

It's no secret that Christmas is approaching and that were all looking for the perfect gifts for our loved ones. A little while ago, I was given the chance to try out some lovely half price pre-mix jars made by Benedict's Bakery. I am someone who absolutely loves baking but am by no means good at it. So I jumped at the chance to try out this lovely little jar of goodness and convenience. Benedict's Bakery focuses on providing high-quality service and customer satisfaction - both of which I can vouch for because the service was awesome and the products tasty and amazing.

Not only to they provide the most delicious oven goodies, their range includes pancake mixes, cookies mixes as well as provide for all those who are gluten free :) (Honestly, what could be better than that). I was given the chance to try out the Gingerbread jar. (OMG delish). The treats arrived at my door pretty fast wrapped in the most cutest way possible. The mix was the most easiest thing I have baked in my life because everything was pretty much prepared for me and all I had to do was mix it, cut it using the gingerbread man and throw it in the oven to bake (instructions were also provided for those like me who don't spend that much time baking). I did of course burn a few of the little men but for the most part it was pretty good and even my mom complemented me as she nibbled away at one. So that just goes to show exactly how convenient and tasty the product is.

Now back the the C word, this jar is an absolute awesome gift for someone who who like to cook but is not very good at it or even for someone who like treats and wants an easy one.

Be sure to check out the link for Benedict's Bakery down below and don't forget to order in time for Christmas :) I sure will be !! The last date for Christmas Orders is November the 30th. Go on, there's plenty of time :)

My Top ELF: Maybelline

Hi loves :) I hope you are all well and having a very good day :) . . . So today's post is the start of a new series that I'll be doing on my blog. And it's called My Top ELF. My Top ELF is basically going to show you my top 3 products, one for the eyes, one for the lips and one for the face from a specific brand (I hope that makes sense). I hope this will help me not to forever show the same things. I haven't quite decided if I want to do this once a month or every other month although I'm leaning towards the latter. So without anymore faffing about, we are going to get into the products.

So as you can tell by the title, the first brand is going to be Maybelline. Maybelline has probably been one of my favourite brands for a very long time and I have loved quite a few of their products. When I first started out wearing makeup, I was really drawn to their Dream Matte Mousse foundation but of course, I tried other brands and preferred them. I've also really liked their mascaras but have never and may not ever repurchase one because I like to try new things and one mascara in particular hasn't stuck with me. So, I'm going to share with you my absolute favourites.

Starting of with the eye product, I have had the Maybelline Eyestudio 24hr Colour Tatto - On and on Bronze for well over a year and half if not two. It's a cream gel eyeshadow that comes in many different shimmery metallic shades and is long-lasting. I have not ever worn this for 24hrs (so cannot comment on that aspect), but it does last a very long time and looks amazing on the eyes which is why I'm huge fan of this product and has one over on Maybelline mascaras for me, as I am yet to find a really good eyeshadow similar to this that I like at an affordable price. When I use this, it is either alone as just an eyeshadow or as a base which powder eyeshadow will be applied on top. Either way, I still manage to create good  everyday looks or occasion looks with this eyeshadow. Mine has dried out but that has not stopped me from using it as there are plenty of solutions to fix that problem. I am actually in the process of getting my hands on more of these so maybe watch out for them pretty soon.

Ok, so the Maybelline Coloursens Nude Lipstick - Coffee Craze is pretty much a recent purchase of mine. Wondering why this has made it into my top 3 eye, lip and face products from Maybelline so soon? I'll tell you why. I have been looking for an affordable nude lipstick for the longest time. After visiting boots and superdrug swatching all the possible options I could find, I never once found one that in any way, suited my skintone or one that I really liked. So after seeing this around for a while, I decided to swatch it and give it a go. It looked ok on my hand originally and as superdrug were doing a deal on Maybelline products, I decided to give it a go even though I was feeling a little meh about it. When I tried this on at home, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I actually like the colour and that It did suit me. It's not the perfect match and knowing me, I always want  a product to be better than it actually is, but for the most part this has made it as one of my favourite lip products from Maybelline as I have been looking for  a nude lipstick for the longest time. I am looking to get some more in various shades from the US line (The Buffs, if I am correct) which as usual has more colours than the UK in shades such as Touchable Taupe and Maple Kiss.

And lastly, we have this little beauty. The Maybelline Baby Skin - Instant Pore Eraser. I will admit that I was not exactly with the craze that was around this product when it first came out, hence the reason why I'm only talking about it now. Now, I've use a load of different primers over the years and this definitely has to be one of the top few that I really like. Now, I no longer use foundations from Maybelline, I happy that they managed to come up with a face product that I like. This most definitely does what it says on the tin for me minimises my pores. I've heard that it is a very good dupe for the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer which I've been wanting for ages, but have never got it simply because of the price. I've also seen people say that this is similar to the Benefit POREfessional which I do not agree with. This is much better in terms of colour and longevity and the minimisation of the pores. Plus it is much more purse friendly. I would definitely give it a try especially when Maybelline are doing offers.

So that is a round up of my top 3 elf products from Maybelline.

Have you tried any of the products mentioned above? What are you thoughts about them and what are your Top 3 ELF from Maybelline?

Review | Thea Skincare ~ Natural Skincare Range

Heyy *waves* :) I hope you are all well and having a very good day :). I am here today to bring you a review of some intersting products that I've been trying out for the last month. I received two products from the lovely people over at Thea Skincare. Thea Skincare is a company that specialises in providing Organic Enriched Skincare for all to use. Thea is a brand that represents pure, luxurious, natural beauty and you can find a heap of information about how the brand started by clicking here. It is very interesting as to how the brand came about and I am glad I read through it.

The two products I will be giving reviews about today is the Fruit & Spice Purifying Body Scrub and the Organic Lavender & Rose Body Lotion. So as these are little samples, the packaging isn't exactly exotic and fancy, so I've included some stock photos below so you can get a rough picture of what it looks like in terms of the packaging.

Fruit & Spice Purifying Body Scrub* (£21.95 full size) I have used quite a few body scrubs over the last few years and so far, I've only found one that I can truly say - "This is something I like and something I'd repurchase". In fact, I still have quite a few body scrubs just sitting in the beauty section of my bedroom. So when I opened the parcel form Thea Skincare and saw a body scrub, I was like "Oh gosh, not another body scrub". Regardless of my personal opinions on how body scrubs do not work for me, I decided to give it a go. I've been using this on and off for the last two weeks as I've been pretty busy and most of the time just want to have a quick shower. So when I've had the opportunity to bathe this has come in handy. I've already used up this whole sample and I'm ready to give my thoughts about it. This has definitely been a huge surprise for me. When I went to use the product for the first time, I honestly wasn't expecting much. It just looked like another body scrub and was quite crumbly in the packaging. However, I put that to one side and use the scrub on my problem area which was my legs. I was quite surprised that it felt really good on my legs and was not harsh or weak on the skin which can be quite a problem. It left my legs feeling extremely moisturised and quite smooth. The finish was on my legs for a good day but didn't last much longer than that. I am in love with the smell of this. It's pretty heavy on the spicy side but there is just enough of a fruity tropical scent to balance it out. Overall, I'm impressed with the product, however, I'm not 100% sold only 90% as I only managed to get around 2 and a half uses out of the sample. That being said this has definitely got to be one of the best body scrubs I have used simply because of how my skin feels after using it - which can't be said for many scrubs I've used. Would I buy this? The answer is YES.

Organic Lavender & Rose Body Lotion* (£22.95 full size) Thea says that this product work best when paired with the Fruit & Spice Purifying Scrub. So, in comparison to my love for the scrub, I'm a little bit in two minds about this. Now it appears fine and smells divine (lavender) in the packaging but I am most definitely not a fan of the consistency of the body lotion. Now I know it's a body lotion so its supposed to be quite watery, but this is just really watery and has the tendency to just slide all over you hands before you get the chance to rub it together before applying it on your body. That was really the only thing I didn't really like about the product and was the one of the main things I initially noticed about the product that I wasn't a fan of. The body lotion actually feels really incredible on the skin. Once you've managed to save the lotion from sliding of your hands and onto the floor the feel of the lotion on your skin in divine. Once it is on your skin, you instantly feel and see the amount of moisture in the product that it making its way onto your skin. That being said, I'm also not exactly sure about the longevity of the product on my skin which is definitely a good thing to see. It feels nice and soft but I'm not sure exactly how much longer this lasts than the other moisturisers I have. However, for the time that it is on your body, it does feel really good and your skin does feel as if its receiving a lot of moisture. I'm sure there are plenty of other benefits I will see in time if I were to use the product more regularly because its organic and I'm all for that. There are just a few things I'm in two minds about and had they been different I wouldn't be in two minds about it. At this point in time, I'm not sure on whether I would buy this. If the consistency and longevity were to change, I would not hesitate.

So that just about sums up my little review on these products from Thea Skincare. Thea have definitely impressed me with the Fruit & Spice body scrub and had the body lotion not been as watery and lasted a little longer on the skin, I would definitely buy it along side the scrub.

Have you heard to Thea Skincare? Have you bought any products from them? If so, let me know

Makeup Haul | (Back to School/Uni)

Hey Beauties :) Welcome to my blog and thanks for stopping by. I know I didn't really do an introduction into this new Back to School Series that I'm doing on the blog and we are already half way into the series for this week. I'll just say that we have a few more posts to come for the rest of the week including some more makeup posts and either a stationary haul or food related posts (I haven't quite decided yet). This week so far, I've already covered my tips and advice for those of you who are starting university this September and Typical Back to School/Uni Outfits and a selection of my favourites. Today on the blog I'm going to share with you a makeup haul for Back to School/Uni. I've specifically purchased these products for me as a uni student (most of which is budget friendly) but will do a If I was Back at School, This is What I'd Wear #2 later on this week as I did that post last year and it went down pretty well.

Face Products

So as you can see, I have a few face products to show you that have been repurchased or specifically bought for my use at uni. I repurchased the MAC Studio Fix Fluid as it is my favourite foundation for oily skin and I literally had a few pumps left of it. I wanted to try out another oily skin foundation from MAC but was told by the lady serving me that this was best for what I wanted in terms of coverage and longevity. This will most definitely be featured more in an upcoming post that I have planned so won't go into too much detail now. Before I bought that MAC foundation, I wanted to try and get my hands on a good drugstore foundation that would suit my oily skin. Having seen quite a few good reviews, I decided that the Revlon 24hrs Colourstay Foundation would be perfect for uni. I know the colour shade is not an exact match but I am planning on getting something to go with it, so that it matching my skin colour as best as it can. Having a few different primers in my collection, its safe to say that I do not need another one. But when Maybelline were having a buy 1 get 2nd half price, I decided that I was going to snap up the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser as I've wanted to try it out for the longest time. I've used this product on the back of my hand so far and love the texture and feel of the product. Again, I wasn't exactly on the hunt for a new face powder, but I thought I would pick up an inexpensive one from Superdrug as it was half price. Again, having heard of some good reviews about the Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder,  I could not resist.

Eye Products

Moving onto the eye product and this is most definitely the part I'm most excited about. Similarly to a couple of the face products, I've wanted to try the two mascaras featured in this post. The L'Oreal Mega Voluume Miss Manga Mascara and the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara in waterproof. I've heard a lot of good things about both mascaras and wanted to try them out for myself and if I was not going back to university, I probably would not have bought it. I'm the type of person that like to have specific things for certain occasions and going back to uni, I wanted to have some products set aside for doing morning makeup. I was in dire need of some clear mascara for my eyebrows as my elf one is running out and opted for the Miss Sporty Just Clear Mascara as I had seen it mentioned in a July favourites blog post and though - why not. Lastly, the MUA Pro-Base Eye Primer was bought on recommendation from a blogger during a #bbloggers chat about hit and miss products. She said that this was very good and keeps eye makeup on for a long time. My Urban Decay and Two Faced Primers were not cutting it form me, so I decided to purchase it. Full reviews soon.

Lip Products

I have been on a serious hunt for nude lipsticks to use on days when I am at uni because I am not one who really like to wear bright lipsticks on a daily basis. When browsing through some blog posts, I came across the Maybelline Coloursens Nude Collection. I heard of this line from Maybelline for a very long time but was never really interested in it because I was unsure of exactly how well it would suit my skin tone. However, having seen it on a fellow blogger, I decided that this would be perfect for me when on my way to uni plus just to use in general. I picked up the shades Tantalising Taupe & Coffee Craze.

So this is everything I got my hands on when roaming around the shops looking for things to use at uni over the next year or so. I love everything I've picked up and can't wait to try these out.

Have you got any of the products in this haul? What do you think of it?
